What is Bookjoy?
2012
‘Bookjoy’ can be defined many different ways. For some it means the joy you get from reading a favorite book you’ve read many times before. For others it’s the feeling of anticipation & excitement you get when you read a book for the first time. Celebrated children’s author Pat Mora describes bookjoy as simply “the private pleasure of savoring text.” At RIF, we agree with all of the above, but more than anything, for us, true bookjoy comes from sharing our love of books and reading with children.
And in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15), we encourage you to explore several joyful children’s book titles from our Multicultural Book Collection:
The Birthday Swap by Loretta Lopez
Book Fiesta by Pat Mora
I Love Saturdays y Domingos by Alma Flor Ada
My Name is Maria Isabel by Alma Flor Ada
¡Olé! Flamenco by George Ancona
And for more great titles, check out Pat Mora’s Hispanic Heritage Month Booklist.
